Three days of engaging conversations with hundreds of visitors, including a series of live demonstrations in a quarry environment, have made Hillhead 2026 an important milestone for leading construction equipment manufacturer, LiuGong Machinery.
Hillhead, held from 23 to 25 June, is the UK's leading exhibition for quarrying, construction, and recycling equipment. At the exhibition, LiuGong showcased a 12-machine line-up, including 10 new debuts, offering proven solutions for quarrying, demolition, infrastructure, earthmoving, compaction, and battery-electric applications.
Throughout the three-day event, the theme "Expert Insight. Proven On Site." shaped activities at the LiuGong stand. Visitors explored the expertise behind each machine on display and saw how product knowledge, customer support, and practical site experience could translate into measurable results for their daily operations across the UK and Ireland.
Heavy equipment customers increasingly rely on proven performance, lower operating costs, and reduced environmental impact when making investment decisions.
At Hillhead, LiuGong demonstrated these benefits across multiple applications through a 12-machine line-up, including 10 UK debuts covering electric equipment, compact excavators, heavy-duty quarry machines, and demolition solutions.

Among these 10 debuts was the 909FCR, a compact radius (short-tail) excavator making its UK launch after being jointly developed by LiuGong's European and UK R&D teams for urban construction, roadworks, demolition, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
The machine was displayed in a distinct leopard print, receiving multiple accolades from visitors for its uniqueness and compact features.
LiuGong also introduced the 838TE, 848TE, and 8110TE electric wheel loaders at the exhibition, highlighting its growing portfolio of battery-electric machines engineered for zero-emission, heavy-duty applications in quarries, ports, and aggregate yards.

At the LiuGong demonstration area, visitors saw how the machines deliver full-shift performance with rapid DC charging in less than 70 minutes, supported by intelligent control systems designed to maximise productivity on site.
"The conversations we've had over the three days at Hillhead confirmed that customers want to see practical solutions for different applications they face every day,” said Harry Mellor, Sales Director of LiuGong UK and Ireland. “What we have achieved was to demonstrate the high performance our machines deliver first-hand and explain the years of expertise behind the development of each one.”
From producing China's first wheel loader in 1966, LiuGong has grown from a single pioneer machine to a global powerhouse with more than 600,000 wheel loaders delivered worldwide and continuous investments in intelligent technologies and electrification.

To celebrate this achievement, LiuGong displayed a special edition 877T wheel loader featuring the company's new 60 Years of Wheel Loaders branding at Hillhead.
The 877T, which made its European debut earlier this year at SaMoTer in Italy, forms part of LiuGong's new T-Series wheel loader range which recently received the 2026 Red Dot Design Award.
The machine introduces several upgrades over the previous 877H generation, including enhanced automation, a pressurised and climate-controlled cab, and an advanced load-sensing hydraulic system paired with a powershift transmission.

Howard Dale, President of LiuGong Europe, said: "Sixty years of wheel loader expertise is more than a milestone for LiuGong. It represents generations of engineering experience that continue to shape the products we bring to customers today, from conventional machines to the next generation of electric solutions. The 877T is one of the key solutions developed through this expertise."
The 877T quickly became one of the standout machines on display at the LiuGong stand and was sold to a customer before the end of the first day of the exhibition.
Over the past decade, electrification has grown into a key approach used by contractors across heavy-duty transport, mining, and construction industries to reduce carbon emissions and long-term maintenance costs on site.
LiuGong demonstrated this approach at Hillhead through its growing battery-electric portfolio on display. This includes the 838TE and 8110TE electric wheel loaders, 924FE electric excavator, DR50CE rigid mining truck, and 4280DE motor grader presented in a live quarry environment, with each machine making its UK debut.

This comprehensive electric machine line-up was operated in the quarry alongside interim charging solutions, including charging piles and mobile battery energy storage systems provided by DENS (Dutch Energy Solutions) and Vital Power Group (VPG).
Visitors had the opportunity to see how battery-electric equipment and supporting infrastructure work together as a complete site solution rather than as individual machines.

The demonstrations sparked discussions around charging strategies, operating costs, productivity, and how similar approaches could be adopted across quarrying, demolition, civil engineering, and other heavy-duty applications.
“We are working with our partners across the UK and Ireland, exploring different charging solutions, including mobile battery storage, that can keep battery-electric machines working effectively in our customers’ quarries,” said Dean Thornewell, Managing Director of LiuGong UK and Ireland.
“We have demonstrated the value of these partnerships at Hillhead; visitors are now making enquiries about replicating our total electric solutions across their sites.”
Beyond the machines, Hillhead provided customers with direct access to the expert team developing and continuously improving the machine range from LiuGong.
LiuGong specialists from across Europe joined the UK and Ireland team throughout the event, creating an environment centred on discussion, demonstrations and practical advice.

Representatives from LiuGong dealer partners across the UK and Ireland, including Lloyd Ltd., Francis Buglers Ltd., FJS Plant Ltd., and Dragon Plant Sales Ltd., also attended the event, reinforcing the support network behind the brand's continued growth.
As a result, visitors explored application requirements with real experts and discussed how specific solutions could support their operations. Alongside on-stand discussions, the live demonstrations also allowed customers to better understand how technical features translate into real productivity gains.

“For LiuGong, Hillhead is about more than exhibiting machines. It's about building relationships, listening to customers, and demonstrating the strength of the support behind our machines. The turnout and feedback we received this year reinforce the momentum we continue to build across the UK and Ireland," said Dean Thornewell, Managing Director of LiuGong UK & Ireland.
Hillhead 2026 featured over 600 exhibitors, offering different solutions in real quarry and construction environment.
For LiuGong, the show was a platform to prove the value of its growing portfolio in real-world applications and show how clearly the brand understands the sectors it serves.
As the gates slowly closed on the third day of the exhibition, visitors to the LiuGong stand left with new insights and a more focused view of LiuGong, one built around sector expertise, real applications, and proven solutions, on site.
In an industry where bold claims are easy to make and where digital tools and AI can amplify those claims faster than ever, LiuGong is taking a different approach. At Hillhead, the company will focus on evidence, application knowledge and real-world performance, showing how its machines, people and support network are delivering where it matters most: on site.
Hillhead provides the perfect environment for this message. As one of the industry’s most demanding live quarry events, it gives customers, dealers, and industry partners the opportunity to see machines in context, ask direct questions and understand how equipment performs in real applications.
For LiuGong, Hillhead will be more than a product showcase. The company will present a 12-machine line-up, including 10 new machines making their Hillhead debut and 2 new application packs, selected to demonstrate capability across quarrying, infrastructure, earthmoving, demolition, electric site solutions, and aftersales support.
Each machine and application story will support LiuGong’s proof-led approach, showing how expert insight is translated into practical performance, customer support and real site evidence.
The LiuGong stand will bring together a series of application-focused stories designed to help visitors look beyond the machine and understand the expertise behind it.
Across the stand, LiuGong will explore the questions that matter to customers: how does the machine perform in demanding conditions? What support sits behind it? How does it fit the application? What evidence proves the claim?
This proof-led approach reflects LiuGong’s wider European direction, focused on building deeper sector understanding and presenting a clearer, more confident proposition to customers.
Howard Dale, President of LiuGong Europe, said: “Customers are hearing a lot of claims at the moment, and it’s not always easy to know what to believe. That’s why Hillhead is so important. It gives people the chance to see the machines, talk to the people behind them and understand how they perform in real applications. For us, it’s a great opportunity to show that LiuGong’s expertise is not just something we talk about. It’s something we are proving every day on sites across the UK, Europe and beyond.”
Among the highlights will be the 925FCR, a 25-tonne short-tail excavator, launching into the UK market at Hillhead as part of LiuGong’s UK-led R&D story, alongside electric machines including the 838TE electric wheel loader and 924FE electric excavator. The 838TE will support LiuGong’s customer-led BEV story, building on real-world experience with UK quarry and recycling customers, while the 924FE will demonstrate electric machine performance on major infrastructure projects, including Lower Thames Crossing and HS2.
LiuGong will also showcase its electric mining and quarrying capability through the 8110TE 40-tonne electric loader, DR50CE electric mining truck and 4280DE electric motor grader, a combination already proven in demanding applications in Norway and the Czech Republic.
The wider line-up will include the 909FCR compact excavator, 933F DM demolition excavator, 956F HD excavator, 877T wheel loader, 6612F roller, 848TE electric wheel loader, giving visitors a broader view of LiuGong’s application expertise across compact equipment, demolition, quarrying, site power, wheel loaders and heavy-duty production environments.
Harry Mellor, LiuGong’s Sales Director for UK & Ireland, said: “Hillhead is exactly the kind of event where application knowledge matters. Visitors aren’t just looking at machines; they want to see how they perform, how they feel from the operator’s seat and how they can support productivity on site. That is why the demonstrations are so important. They give us the chance to bring the LiuGong story to life, from 60 years of wheel loader expertise to the next generation of BEV performance.”
A key part of LiuGong’s Hillhead story will be the celebration of six decades of wheel loader expertise, connecting the company’s heritage with its latest T-Series and BEV loader technologies.
LiuGong manufactured China’s first modernised wheel loader, the Z435, in 1966, a machine that helped lay the foundation for China’s modern construction equipment industry. Today, that experience continues through a global wheel loader population of more than 600,000 machines delivered worldwide and more than 30,000 wheel loaders built annually.
At Hillhead, LiuGong will use this anniversary to show how 60 years of wheel loader know-how is being carried forward into machines designed for today’s quarrying, construction and recycling applications.
LiuGong’s Hillhead presence will be designed to encourage conversation and give visitors the chance to see machines working in a live environment, with demonstrations set to play an important role in the stand experience.
The demonstration area will give customers the chance to see LiuGong machines working in a practical environment, with a focus on BEV performance, real application benefits and an OEM total solution offering. Alongside the electric demonstration machines will be Charging Piles and BESS Systems, highlighting the company's extensive experience in delivering BEV site solutions in Europe.
Designed to create a more engaging stand atmosphere, the demonstrations will give visitors a clearer understanding of how LiuGong’s product expertise translates into real working value.
For LiuGong, Hillhead will also provide an opportunity to reinforce the support behind its growing UK presence, from dealer relationships and parts availability to customer service and practical on-site knowledge.
Dean Thornewell, Managing Director at LiuGong UK & Ireland, said: “Customers at Hillhead want to know that the machine is only part of the story. They want confidence in the people, the parts, the service and the support. That’s where we are continuing to build real momentum in the UK. Hillhead gives us the chance to meet customers face to face, listen to what they need and show them the solutions and support we’re putting in place.”
Hillhead is where the industry comes to see equipment in action. For LiuGong, it is also the ideal place to show how far the brand has come and how clearly it understands the sectors it serves.
Visitors to the LiuGong stand will be able to explore a more focused, proof-led view of the company, one built around sector expertise, real applications and practical support.
Dale added, “We want people to leave Hillhead with a clear sense of who we are today. Not just the machines we build, but the knowledge, support and experience behind them. We know customers want proof, and we welcome that. For anyone looking to separate claims from evidence, our message is simple: Expert Insight. Proven On Site.”
